University of Sydney - Lecture Bytes
Role: Sessional Tutor & LX Designer
Overview
Lecture Bytes was a strategic education project to boost lecture engagement and attendance tracking. The audience was postgraduate design students and lecturers, with constraints including delivery inside Canvas LMS and alignment with the university’s design methodology.
Process
- Worked with academics to define problems and activity requirements.
- Designed twelve micro-activities, prototyped in Canvas using plain HTML/CSS.
- Applied the double diamond methodology for iterative design and evaluation.
- Tested activities with 90 students and multiple lecturers, refining based on feedback.
Outcome
The activities increased participation and were embedded across design programs. Staff feedback highlighted improved student engagement and easier attendance tracking, while the activities were published to Canvas Commons for ongoing reuse across the university.
